SMAC Annual Photoshoot

It's picture time once again! Wednesday October, 8th through Friday October, 10th is the SMAC Annual Photoshoot held here at the dojo. Sign up is available at the front and is open to all styles! All Karate classes will be canceled for these days. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Kumite Only Seminar Part II

Back by popular demand! SMAC will be hosting the second Kumite Only Seminar Saturday, October 4th at Noon to 5:00 PM. Registration forms are available at the dojo and are needed to attend. For more information please contact Liz Sambach at 602-751-5506.

Scottsdale Students Bring Back Gold and Bronze from World Championship

Anna Lichtenberger (gold) and Jihone Du (bronze) medaled at the World Wado Karate Championships in Vancouver, BC. Canada on August 23, 2008. Anna Lichtenberger won the gold medal in women’s forms and Jihone Du won the bronze medal in men’s -60kg sparring division. Both students train at the Scottsdale Martial Arts Center, Inc. under Ray Hughes and at the Arizona Wado Karate and Martial Arts Center under Marlon Moore. Team USA as a whole did extremely well and brought home one gold, four silvers, and five bronze.

The USA five man sparring team also did well placing fourth behind Russia (gold), Japan (silver), and Canada (bronze). Two of the team members, Kyle Harder and Tyler Warren, are also Scottsdale Martial Arts Center students.

The World Wado Karate Championships featured 300 plus students from 14 different countries. This event is held every four years in a different country.

Annual JKF Registration

It's that time of the year again! The JKF registration fee of $40.00 is due by September 1st. All Karate students are required to pay! This fee covers costs for the Wado Kai patches, rank certificates, and membership. For those on the Automatic Bill Pay, the fee will be deducted with Septembers' tuition. All other students, please pay before the 1st. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

2008 Black Belt Test Dates

Saturday, May 10th at 9:00 a.m. Test will be held at the Arizona Wado Karate and Martial Arts Center on Arizona Ave. and Warner Rd. in Chandler.

Saturday, November 15th at 9:00 a.m. Test will be held at the Scottsdale Martial Arts Center on 91st St. and Bell Rd. in Scottsdale.
