Training since 1991, Received Black belt in 1996 and promoted to Nidan (2nd degree) in 1998, Competed in over 100 tournaments locally, nationally, and internationally in both team and individual events, Selected several times as a team member and team captain to represent the USA in competition. Currently a detective for the Tempe Police Department's Special Investigations Bureau (Gang Unit), a negotiator on the Tempe PD's SWAT Team, member of the department's Critical Incident Stress Management team, and POST certified instructor at the Arizona Law Enforcement Academy.

Phil Brier (Judo)
Sensei Phil Brier has studied Judo for 36 years and currently holds the rank of Godan, 5th degree. Sensei Brier has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Merchant Marine Academy and an M.B.A. from the University of NC at Charlotte. He has studied under several world renown Judo instructors including Sensei Konokogi while at the U.S Merchant Marines Academy from 1980 to 1984. Sensei Brier has competed in dozens of tournaments and is still an active competitor to date.
Santiago Armstrong (Jujutsu)
Your Hoteikan Instructor is Shihan Santiago Armstrong, 9th dan. He is the President and Dai Kaiden (Next in line) of the Hoteikan System. Shihan Armstrong has over 40 years experience in the Martial Arts and holds Dan ranks in Shotokan Karate, Judo and Jujutsu.
Shihan Armstrong has been teaching for over 30 years and is an "International Hall of Fame" member.
Shihan Dana Abbott , after a quarter century of entensive Kenjutsu study, including 14 years in Yokohama, Japan returned to the United States to Samurai manner. Master Abbott cuts away the mysteries that have shrouded the sword for generations and explains how the sword is correctly applied through his world renown courses, seminars, and DVDs.
Robert Hunt (Kobujutsu)
An internationally recognized instructor who speaks four languages, Sensei Hunt has been studying Karate and Kobujutsu for over thirty years in Japan and the United States with some of the most respected teachers in the world. Currently, he is one of the highest ranking members of the Japan Karate Federation of America.
He and his wife Robin, also an accomplished black belt with twenty years of study, supervise and instruct classes for the Okinawan Kobujutsu Federation of America.
A one-time high school and college instructor, Sensei Hunt holds a Master's Degree from the American Graduate School of International Management. In addition to teaching, he also writes and produces feature length films for theatrical and video release, many with action/adventure themes.
Sean Squires (Tai Chi)
Sifu Sean Squires began his martial arts training in 1995, in Northern Shaolin Kung Fu. He began training with Master Jinheng Li in 2001 and became a black belt instructor in 2002. In addition to teaching Taiji, Sean also teaches Master Li's Wushu Standard Course and the Family Wushu course at various locations. Sean's emphasis since 2003 has been on the internal arts of Taiji, Xingyi and Bagua. He has assisted in training tournament competitors from Master Li's school, and as part of the World Tai Chi instructors workshop, in these forms. Sean is a World Tai Chi certified level 4 instructor and has successfully completed certification in Touch for Health.
Keith Sonnenberg (Wing Tsun)
Sifu Keith Sonnenberg's career in training and teaching in the martial arts spans over 40 years. Since 1980, Sifu Sonnenberg has trained directly under Great Grandmaster Professor Leung Ting in Wing Tsun as the Grandmaster's first American student. He is one of a handful of Americans that have received training directly from Grandmaster Leung Ting in the WingTsun 6 1/2 Point Long Pole techniques. Sonnenberg is a 4th Level Technician in the International WingTsun Association - North American Section (IWTA-NAS) and has been teaching WingTsun for the last 26 years.
